A sample resignation letter executive is useful when you need to inform your employer or the company through your boss/manager that you are quitting or leaving your job as an executive director (director resignation), sales executive, account executive, or even managing director position.

Just as you had to write a cover letter when you apply for a job, it is important to consider writing a professional resignation letter when leaving.

This will be helpful in the future if you need a reference from the company or your manager so you can apply in the future to other companies.

Here are some letter templates you can use and adjust to your convenience when you are writing your letter.

Letter format

If you decide you want to write your own resignation letter, here are some tips on what to include:

  • State clearly the fact that you are resigning.
  • Include the date of the last day of employment giving at least a 2 weeks’ notice (check your employment contract).
  • Thank your employer for the opportunity.
  • Offer additional assistance in the transition process (when possible).
  • Close on a warm note and sign it.

Your first paragraph should include your position and the name of the company, followed by your intention to resign from your current job role.

The next paragraph should reflect the positive aspects of the job or what you have appreciated while working for them.

If you feel comfortable, you can also include the reason why you are leaving and the last day of employment (considering the notice period).
