Mysterious Malady Quest -Magistrate or Doctor

Mysterious Malady Quest

Mysterious Malady is a quest in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey under the DLC “Legacy of the First Blade”.

Your task is to find out who caused the illness among the villagers and find a cure.

Accusing the magistrate or doctor is a part of the Mysterious Malady quest in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Legacy of the First Blade.

This is a potentially really important choice you’ll make. You might accuse the wrong person.

Also, this quest ends up tied to the bigger picture, so you want to make the right choice in the Mysterious Malady quest, between the doctor and the magistrate.

Magistrate or Doctor – Who to accuse?

In the Legacy of the First Blade Mysterious Malady quest, you’ll be trying to solve the mystery of a town that has fallen ill for no apparent reason.

At the climax of the quest, you’ll have to decide who to blame for this malady. This is because it’s become apparent that it’s no ordinary sickness; there’s something much eviler afoot.

Your choice is between the magistrate, who does seem pretty belligerent, and the doctor, who is timider, but still kinda shady, according to Gosunoob.

A walkthrough of Mysterious Malady in AC Odyssey

Here’s a useful walkthrough of Mysterious Malady in AC Odyssey, from Ordinary Reviews.

  1. Talk to the magistrate

To begin the quest, talk to the magistrate who is in Potidaia. You should see him standing on the cliff. Talk to him.

During the cutscene, he will mention that the doctor is missing. Her name is Timosa.

  1. Find and talk to the doctor

You should be able to find the doctor at the location shown in the map below. As you get closer, use Ikaros to pinpoint the destination.

You will find her surrounded by three guards. She’s the one lying down on the ground.

  1. Kill the guards

Defeat all of the guards. Talk to her to proceed. She will then say that the magistrate sent the guards for her.

Apparently the medicine has been taken by the bandit ships.

  1. Reach your ship

Get to your ship, wherever it is. You need to use your ship to defeat the two bandit ships via a naval battle.

The ships are located just south of the port at Makedonia.

  1. Destroy the bandit ships

You can destroy the bandit ships using the same way you normally do with other ships.
Keep lowering the health, and board the ship.
For one of the ships, you can just ram it until it sinks.

After destroying each ship, you should get the medicine.

There’s also a letter on one of the ships. Apparently they have been hired by a woman to kill the Eagle Bearer. I should have read it properly.

It affects the outcome later.

  1. Deliver the medicine to the doctor

Get back to the doctor in Potidaia. The exact location is shown in the map below.

  1. Talk to the magistrate.

During the conversation, you have the choice to choose either the magistrate or the doctor as the one who caused the illness.

*SPOILER ALERT*

The doctor (Timosa) is the real culprit. She’s also one of the members of the Order, which you will learn later.

  1. Kill the magistrate

In any case, if you had chosen wrongly, you need to kill the magistrate and his men.

  1. Talk to Neema

Once they’re dead, talk to Neema about the situation.

The quest completes here and you should get two ancient clues with some drachmae.

Magistrate or Doctor – who is guilty?

As it turns out, the guilty party is the doctor. So, the correct answer is Stop lying, Doctor.

The doctor is a part of the Order of the Hunter cult branch. She’s been poisoning people, only to smoke you out.

The whole thing was to get to you. When you accuse her, she will admit to everything, and also call her two really, really strong bodyguards. You’re in for a tough battle against the three of them.

Once you’ve killed all three of them, make sure to confirm the cultist kill and loot the good doctor’s corpse.

More About Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft.

It is the 11th major installment, and 21st overall, in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Set in the year 431 BC, the plot tells a fictional history of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.

Players control a male or female mercenary (Ancient Greek: μίσθιος misthios) who fights for both sides as they attempt to unite their family.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and (in Japan only) for Nintendo Switch on October 5, 2018, with a Stadia version launching alongside the service in 2019. The game received generally favorable reviews.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey places more emphasis on role-playing elements than previous games in the series.

The game contains dialogue options, branching quests, and multiple endings. The player is able to choose between siblings Alexios and Kassandra as to whom they use as the main character.

The game features a notoriety system in which mercenaries chase after the player if they commit crimes like killing or stealing in the presence of others.

The player character is a Greek mercenary and a descendant of the Spartan king Leonidas I.

They inherit his broken spear, which is forged into a blade to become a weapon that grants the player special abilities in combat.

The game uses a skill tree system that allows the player to unlock new abilities.

The three skill trees are “hunter”, which focuses on ranged attacks through the use of a bow & arrow, “warrior”, which focuses on weapons-based combat (swords, spears, axes, etc.), and “assassin”, which focuses on stealth and silent take-downs.

This replaces the system used in Origins, which granted the player a series of passive abilities.
