I Miss You Quotes (149+)

Why do we miss someone? Why do we get that feeling of emptiness like a punch in the stomach and feel like our world makes no sense without a certain person in our lives?

The answer lies in the chemicals. When you first start a relationship and you feel good, enthusiastic, happy it’s because your brain releases serotonin and oxytocin, the hormones of love and happiness. We as human beings are programmed to share our lives with others. When you are with a special someone, your body is going to release the so-called “chemicals of love”.

When you are separated from the person that you love, it hurts. It might take months for your body to get back to normal, so before getting angry on yourself because of missing someone too much, remember that it’s not under your control. Your body needs time to heal.

When missing someone you can feel incredibly lonely. Perhaps you are missing someone that used to make you smile, encouraged and made your day a whole lot better. Your life might not make any sense now and you long for somebody else to save you from this state of mind.

This is where you have to do the hard work, and make the decision to fall back in love with yourself. Sometimes we need to learn to fall in love with ourselves, not in a selfish way, but in an appreciative way. This way you will find an eternal source of love, one that does not run out, a source within yourself.

You also need to know that it’s natural to miss someone after they’re gone. There are five stages of grief, that one goes through after losing a loved one.

1.    Denial – “This can’t be happening to me”

2.    Anger – “Why is this happening to me?”

3.    Bargaining – “I would do anything to change this”

4.    Depression – “What’s the point of living on after this?”

5.    Acceptance – “Everything is going to be okay”.

Someone who is grieving may go through these stages in any order, may even return to some. Remember to be kind and patient. As it is not an easy journey.

Focus on yourself and spending as much time as possible doing the things that you love. Long walks in nature and hours of conversations with people that love and respect you can boost your confidence and self-esteem. Most importantly, don’t torment yourself with old photos and text messages that will only bring more pain and regrets.

Remember to take one day at a time, do things that you love and spend time with people close to you.
