Most people may recognise this phrase from the cartoon series “Rick and Morty”- In this scene, an alien being asks Morty if he may assist him in cleaning the room. He tells Morty that his grandfather “Rick” is in very deep pain but Morty rebukes him and says that his Grandfather is simply just saying this but he isn’t really in great pain but simply saying “ i am in great pain please help me “ ironically.

The alien being tells him that his grandfather is actually in very deep pain and hence why he numbs himself with alcohol.

Morty then says to the alien that his grandfather Rick isn’t so complicated but is rather a big asshole.

The alien then asks Morty why he cares so much if his father is simply just stating that he is in great pain as it seems faith has presented him with an opportunity to abandon his father. The alien tells Rick to choose wisely.

This scenario is a scenario a lot of us face in our daily lives. More often than not we come across people who may in one way or the other may have stated to us “I am in great pain please help me” and we may have laughed it off or not taking them too seriously. We must understand that different people have different ways of seeking out help and we should do our best to be there for people when they come calling for us.
